Overview: This will be a group exploration of the coquina rock tidepools at River to Sea Preserve. After the beach, we will wash off our feet and head to the new Whitney Lab to view the exhibits in their newly opened "Discovery Lobby".

Tidepool Walk | 9am-10am
Meet at River to Sea Preserve, 9805 N Ocean Shore Blvd, Palm Coast, FL. (This is the large parking lot on the ocean side of A1A). Our exploration will involve about a 1 mile walk on the beach. Marine life common to this area include: warty anemones, rock snails, quiet periwinkle snails, striped false limpets and more. Low tide will be at 9:25am. Restrooms and showers on site.

Discovery Lobby at the Whitney Laboratory | 10:15-11:00
The interactive Lastinger and Lohman Discovery and Conservation Lobby on the first floor of Whitney Laboratory’s new Marine Reseach Center offers visitors an immersive experience showcasing the laboratory’s research and programs. Also in the lobby is the Laboratory Gift Shop stocked with unique ocean-themed gifts including Whitney Laboratory and Sea Turtle Hospital apparel and other marine items.

Location/Parking Details

River to Sea Preserve
9805 N Ocean Shore Blvd, Palm Coast, FL
This is the large dirt lot with bathrooms, just south of Marineland, on the beach side of A1A. There is another part of the park 3/10 of a mile south on the west side of the road, with additional parking. If you park in the overflow lot, be sure to cross A1A and walk up the beach to meet the group, rather than walking on the highway.
